Mary Draves is a lifelong Michigander, wife, mother, and local business leader. She is committed to working alongside all Michiganders to create good-paying jobs for Michigan’s 8th Congressional District. 

Born and raised in Midland County, Mary attended Midland public schools and graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in technological processes. Mary has been married to her husband Todd for 27 years and has two children David and Melissa. A firm believer in the value of hard work, Mary started a job at Dow Inc., even while she was a full-time college student. 

After 29 years of hard work, Mary earned an executive-level position where she established a proven track record of ingenuity, success, and job creation. She is respected for a common-sense approach to problem-solving that is practical and gets things done. 

Mary’s professional life has also been marked with a passion for sharing her expertise and leadership with the organizations and communities she loves. Mary knows the value of a good education and sits on the board of the SVSU Foundation. Seeing first-hand the central role that agriculture plays in our state, Mary has served as a volunteer 4H leader for 20 years where she works to create greater opportunity for the next generation of Michigan farmers. 

Never one to slow down, even in retirement, Mary recently launched a consulting business in Midland where she helps local business owners grow their companies and improve their community. Now, she’s running for Congress, and Mary is ready to take her experience and her common-sense vision for our country straight to Washington.
